Dr.
Vijay Keolchand Mahorkar, Ph. D, DMM, born on 07th
October, 1954, in village Kondoli, Dist. Washim, Maharashtra.
Presently working in the capacity of Director, Extension
Education, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth,
Akola. He has 27 years of vast service experience
includes Education, Research & Agriculture Extension.
He wrote 63 Scientific and 35 technical papers. He
also has 65 extension publications and 07 books to
his credit. He is a recipient of Bt Sheshrao Wankhade
Gold Medal for M.Sc. Agri. Examination. He is also
winner of Madhav Gangadhar Bhumralkar Cash Prize,
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Trust Prize. During
his study days he was awarded Junior Research Fellowship
from CSIR, New Delhi to complete Ph.D. studies. He
also received many prestigious awards like Vetiver
Award by World Bank, Rashtriya Gaurav Award, Radhakisan
Shanti Malhotra Cash Prize for outstanding research
work, Gold medal for Best Research in 42nd World Congress,
Fellowship of the year award by National Environmental
Science Academy. He was active member in reforming
new syllabus of Horticulture of B.Sc. (Agri., Horti.
& Forestry). He is also the Executive Council
Member of University.
He had made visits to Saudi Arabia, Israel and Kenya.
Under his guidance several extension education programmes
of University like Agro Tech, Shivar Pheri, Kirtankar
Mela’s, Krishi Doot Trainings & Krishak
Vigyan Manch (Programme of farmer- scientist interaction),
Hello Kastakar- an online radio programme, Scientists-Input
Dealers Interface, Media workshop and more than 500
trainings for Farmers, Farm Women’s, Rural Youths,
Extension Functionaries is being successfully organized.
